Pomme d’Api, Lady Apples, Christmas Apples and more

11.28.12

Pomme d’Api may be small in size, but they come from a lot of history. Lady apples have been traced to an ancient Roman apple, the Malum Appianum. It has been cultivated for centuries.

Lady apples’ appearance, culinary use, and decor make them quite special. An apple associated with Christmas and winter, delights me by its rosy blush, their wet nutty flavor and just a hint of citrus. I will come back to share more photos (and a full baby purée recipe) that you may effortless replicate at home.  In the meantime, I leave you with a short poem that I sometimes hum and why not? you may teach or sing to your little ones. I learned it when I was very young, with a melody very close to my heart. It goes like this…
