Fresh Whole Milk and Organic Banana Baby Smoothie Purée

May 14, 2013

Growing up, fresh milk and bananas reminisce of the days my Mom prepared it for us. It was part of her repertoire of homemade beverages, juices, milkshakes… natural, refreshing. So pleasant to drink. Homey. Mom’s milk and bananas was prepared mostly during hot summer months. She wouldn’t add ice-cream or sugar; she served it with a few pieces of ice and a touch of vanilla. Chilled. The vanilla made it indulgently fragrant. You could see the little black specks in the mix. So visual and satisfying.

Classically prepared in a blender, at home, we enjoy it plain. May sprinkle some cinnamon. Some enjoy it over cereal too. Milk and bananas can add flavor to oatmeal or poured over food. It brings fiber and lots of potassium to our young ones’ diet and to ours. We had so much fun seeing the white, thin, fluffy milk ‘mustache’ it created above our lips, which made everyone laugh. Oh, I prepared it this time for my young daughter, which we also enjoyed along with her. Refreshing. Summer days are fast approaching. Here in the South, Spring time felt shorter than ever!
